Join two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Alan Taylor as he explores Joseph Plumb Martin's remarkable and rare memoir—one of the most vivid firsthand accounts of the American Revolution. Martin, from Milford CT, enlisted at just 15 and served nearly the entire war, witnessing Valley Forge, Yorktown, and countless hardships with wit and unflinching honesty. Taylor brings this irreplaceable soldier's story to life, revealing the human drama behind America's founding.


Alan Taylor is a Professor Emeritis of History at the University of Virginia, once the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation Professor of History.. A distinguished scholar of early American history, he has won the Pulitzer Prize twice, as well as the Bancroft Prize and the National Book Award.
