Colonial Demonstrations 

The Museum of Darien

10 am to 1 pm

Celebrate 250 years of Middlesex Parish history with a day of immersive colonial life demonstrations at Museum of Darien. Members of the Fifth Connecticut Regiment, dressed in authentic period attire, will showcase the daily life of a colonial soldier and artisan skills.  Their vignettes will include: Soldiers Life; Kids Drill; Soldiers drill; Colonial flags; MoD’s Whaleboat Middlesex with American sailor and display of authentic Toys from the 18th century. A silhouette artist will also be on-site creating timeless portraits—advance bookings available for $35 per silhouette.

Revolutionary Reenactment 

The Mather Homestead

2 to 4 pm

Head to the Homestead for an afternoon of story, song, and soldiers. CT’s first state troubadour will set the stage, the 5th Connecticut Regiment (Patriots) and the 38th Regiment of Foot (British Loyalists) will reenact a Revolutionary War battle, and Sarah Mather will share her personal stories. Colonial treats and Revolutionary books for sale. Fun for the whole family!

Walk through History 

Highland Farms

all day 

 

Take a Walk through History at Highland Farms on May 2 or any day between May 1 and June 30.  250 signs will tell the stories of Darien's Revolutionary past.
